Assignment III: Psychology Service – Knowing Yourself

These are The Eight Excesses of Me.

  1. I have belief in one God, Allah SWT.

  2. Complete body parts without any dissability.

  3. Honesty, because I was born and taught to be an honest child.

  4. Open minded.

  5. Creativity.

  6. Caring for each other.

  7. No faking.

  8. Friendly, but somehow people misunderstand me by saying that I was look like cross-patch sharp vicious person.

All right, so with those aspects I feel so proud and confident about myself.

Now, these are the eight factors that cause the customer/guest leave a restaurant/hotel.

  1. Cleanliness.

Whether it’s the food or the place that still have dirtiness.

  1. Quality services.

How the waiter/tress give the service to the guest.

  1. Attitude of the staff.

For example: housekeeping attendant is smoking while cleaning the room, the hostess is playing her mobile phone while working.

  1. The appearance of the receptionist or host/tess.

If the receptionist didn’t wear the proper uniform or stained/dirty, while the hostess is not tidying her hair properly.

  1. Taste of the food.

In case, the cook forget to put the salt.

  1. The service takes too much time.

Caused with two factor: whether the cook is so slow or the waiter is forgot to take the food and serve it to the guest.

  1. Facilities condition.

Like the closet are broken or the hand basin is stained.

  1. The athmosphere or the restaurant/hotel.

Such as: too dark because of some lamp went out.

I think that’s all of my answer. Because there are only two question of the three slide, I’m not sure if the first slide is also a question. Please let me know if it was true. Thank you.

Assignment II: Psychology Service - The Summary of The Geese Story

  1. Motivation Point of View.

They support (motivate) each other alot. This is the first thing came from my mind after I read the story and I’m sure it’s because they have a very high consideration, they start this together, so they had to finish this together. As it is said earlier in Mr. Yohanes’ presentation about the story, those geese have one same destination, one same purpose, and one same goal which is heading to the warmer place.

Let me give you the examples:

  1. They fly in “V formation to fight the ressistance of the air much easier so that their flight efficiency automatically goes higher up to 71% than flying alone. For their consideration towards this goal is so reasonable and worth to be imitated into the reality.

  2. Their respect to each other is the most attractive point, they quacking along the way in order to support their leader. They know how to encourage each other, now thats what we called a respect.

  3. And when their leader is getting tired, they exchange that position with other goose. I think this is also one of motivation and respect because they hold their goal so tight and they didnt want it failed in the middle of the road so they keep on flying forward, leader is changeable between each other. So flexible for animal’s way of living.

  4. And also, when one geese is down, even though he had to leave the formation but some of the geese will keep him company (that is so sweet!). They will stay with him untill he is able to keep up with the other again or untill he leave the form forever (dead). I never see such consideration towards each other like this in our real life, reality is way cruel than it seems.

  1. Leadership Point of View.

Their leadership is worth two thumbs up. They are able to enroll with every cases, problems and deffects that comes to them. They know how to handle the obstacle whatever it was, from air ressistance, encouragement, filling each other emptyness and needs, less is more, consideration towards the community. They realize how important to live in social is, that’s why they are bravely put such a beautiful sportmanship into a strong leadership.

  1. Cooperation Point of View.

Why did I put the cooperation point of view in the end, if you would ask? That’s because without motivation and leadership, it won’t bring a good teamwork (cooperation). The geese are able to compare the good and bad effect of the things around them, such as:

    • The geese choose to fly together better than alone.

    • The geese realize the impact when they choose to fly alone.

    • The geese know how to share with each other.

    • The geese know how to support each other and how important it is.

So, here we come to my conclution...

All of this amazing behaviour of animal were come from a high consideration towards living in society, in community. I mean, they are geese. But they are realizing many things that are rarely done like that in reality, beautifully. In the end of the presentation, Mr. Yohanes’ put some moral message based on the story which is sounds like this:

Lesson 5:

Let’s stay beside each other no matter what the differences.

Specially in times of difficulty and great challenges.

If we bond together and support each other...

If we make true the spirit of teamwork...

Regardless of our differences, we can rise to meet our challenge.

If we understand the real value of friendship...

If we aware of the feeling of sharing...

LIFE WILL BE EASIER AND THE PASSING OF YEARS MORE FULFILLING...

Those words of him are so true! And I’m sure that the main problem is consideration, it is always about consideration towards each other. “Human can never live alone.” I think this story reminds us, Human, to be more cooperative, motivating each other and build the real leadership. YES! We can do it much better that the geese can. All we have to do is that three points: cooperation, motivation and leadership. Last but not least is believe in yourself that you can do it.

Assignment: "If I were..." (on August 1st, 2011)

©      If I were The President of Indonesia, I would focus myself in improving Indonesia’s environment and income by building some amazing resort in Irian Jaya, Maluku, Kalimantan, and Sumatera. Bali is already common to the international tourists. I was so sad when I knew that Japanese-Okinawa people didn’t even know that Bali is a part of Indonesia, they thought that Bali is a country. Indonesia already has many beautiful nature, but the people doesn’t have much consideration to keep it grow more beautiful or even to make the world realize of what we have.
©      And by the time Indonesia is improving it’s environment, on the other hand, if I were an ambassador of Indonesia, wherever the country I live, I will promote Indonesia’s tourism spot as fast as I can. I will also took many talented people, especially in persuation, to make lots of promotion to the entire world to come and visit Indonesia, to let them feel the breath-taking view of Indonesia where not every country has such an amazing gifts.
©      If I were the Ministry of Tourism, I would NOT only sit in the air-conditioned room and thinking about cleanliness or even just talking to the public media saying this and that but there is not even a big change when he/she was being in the position.
©      If I were the Ministry of Tourism, I would like to remodel Jakarta, even though it will take a very long time, but i will definitely on it. I want to show the world that a 3rd world country is able to redo something non-attractive air-pollutioned environment into a modern hill. Why not? We breathe, we walk, and we eat just the same like what super power country did. So, If I were The Ministry of Tourism, I would encourage the citizen to change all that.
©      If I were a judicator or higher in law section, I would make a new law for Indonesia, which is not a chicken thief got a three years punishment (if you saw such news on the TV, look how sad his family and how he lived in jail for the punishment), while a 170 million corruptor was given times to escape to Singapore (PS: I believe I don’t need to write the name) and many more such cases.

College Life Chapter One

This is the first time I’d like to write about my college classes. Well, since it’s all about the self-study matter, so I enforced myself to do this.

July 18th, 2011.
Hospitality Calculation with Mr. Ir. Kusmayadi, MM.

Okay, this is our first time to study in college so Mr. Nervous came along the way as always. Fortunately, Mr. Kusmayadi wanted this first time class to be an introduction for all. He also introduced his subject, Hospitality Calculation, a bit to us. Sometimes, my friends and I discussed “Why should we learn about Aljabar or Statistics so far? Will it be used by us in hotel operation?”. This time, i think Mr. Kusmayadi had opened my mind. He asked us to make a future plans for five years forward. It is not a mistake or a big question for us to learn anything for reaching the higher level of education, because education is education. It just enrich us with thoughts and experience that would be a help for the future. The case is can we challenge ourselves to put our best in it. It’s a big thanks to Mr. Kusmayadi to remind us all.

July 19th, 2011.
Psychology Services with Mr. Yohanes Sulistyadi, MM.

At first, I thought that he is the kind of so certain lecturer or maybe the one that won’t laugh for a teen joke (I’m really sorry for that). But the world is always full of surprise, he is so funny! I believe that he is the most enjoyable lecturer I’ve ever met. All of his thoughts and material are delivered to us perfectly. I felt like we were so close to each other so that all of his theory is so easy to be understood. Wow, i hope he was my junior high math’s teacher... Hahahaha. Okay, that’s a joke. Well, he also did the same like what Mr. Kusmayadi did, this first class of him, was an introduction too. But this time, he asked to form a group of five and do a simple discussion about our personality, whether we’re a loser or a confrontative personality. It is like to match the idealism of a hotelier personality and I got the unconfrontative type of personality. I thought so. Hahaha, that’s a very nice class of him. It’s all thanks to STP Sahid and Mrs. Shilma to gave us such a wonderful opportunity in education.

July 20th, 2011.
Computer with Mr. Harisz.
English for Accomodation with Mr. Drs. M. Aritonang, MA.

It has to be like written above, but then it was cancelled because of some business. Hmm, so pity right~

July 21st, 2011.
English for Accomodation with Ms. Dra. Eva M. Mangunsong.

We learn about some conversation about making and taking a reservation. We practice a lot. I’m so happy to have her again teaching in my class, but this time as my lecturer. She is so kind and so understanding as a teacher, she thought of her students a lot. In class, she asked us to make some testimonials about the conversation and to make difference between one conversation to another. It was so fun, but the time goes by so fast.

July 22nd, 2011.
Front Office II with Mrs. Oky Dewayanti, S.ST. Par, M.Pd.

She was also one of my teacher in vocational high, I’m glad to meet some teacher again as my lecturer. This time is also an introduction class, but it seems like she was concerned to the non-Htel Acomodation students, such as F&B, because our college major is Hotel Accomodation only so that’s why there is no chance for them to choose any other major. Then, she asked those F&B students wheteher they already knew something about Front Office and then we all had to discuss it together, about every section in F.O department.

Food Service with Mrs. Dra. Shilmawati.

All right, she was also one of my vocational high school teacher, a great one for sure. This time she taught us about Banquet Service. Why there was no introduction if you might ask, that’s because she already knew us all better than anyone. Okay, so the case opened with a question “What does banquet means?”. Nobody answered correctly, then she answered “Banquet is a long chair which is sticked to the restaurant’s wall. I don’t know if I translate it right, here is the Indonesian translation: Banquet adalah kursi yang memanjang yang menempel di dinding restoran.
Therefore, the banquet staff normally consists of the following:

The above chart is the simple one, the complete chart was so blur so I can’t read it or even to post it. Here is also the duty of each position in Banquet Department.

  • Banquet Manager : over all in – charge of administration, dealing with guest and coordination all arrangements.
  • Secretary : handles all correspondence and filling and often takes bookings by the phone.
  • Banquet Supervisor : coordinates the implementation of function arrangements and controls staff job allocation.
  • Waiters : make the actual arrangement and do the service.
  • Assistant Waiters : make the actual arrangement and do the service.
  • Casual : do the service.

All right, I think that’s all about the Banquet Service, there are no much time to discuss a lot more with her, but I was satisfied enough with that.

July 23rd, 2011.
Housekeeping II with Mrs. Yuri Kusumawardani, S.Pd.

Here it is the Housekeeping class. Thanks God, we’re with Mrs. Yuri again. Hehehehe... Guess who? Yup, she’s my vocational high school teacher too. This time she lectured us via ex-student of 57 Vocational High School, Mr. Nasrullah or we could call him Mr. Anas. He made a presentation about K3 (Keamanan, Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja) or in English: Security, Safety and Healthy at Work. He showed some amazing pictures that I’m really sure, nobody would volunteer theirselves to do such things. So that means we should work with the following S.O.P (Standard Operational Procedure) in order to our own security, safety and healthy working. Then the class ended with an assignment given by Mrs. Yuri which is we have to make such a presentation just like what Mr. Anas did.

Lastly, this was a nice week of education. I felt like an universyty student (that’s what they told us to feel like anyway). I hope it’ll going on very well in the future.
